Ma'akomm Project Vision

The goal of Ma’akomm is to establish a unified platform. This platform will enable readers to deeply explore in a summarized fashion the genesis of the Zionist movement and the Arab resistance to it, spanning from its inception in the late 17th century—drawing on prior and recent historical examples such as Napoleon’s invasion of Egypt, Saladin’s legacy in unifying resistance, Mohammad Ali’s modernization efforts, and Arab figures like Muḥammad ʿAbduh a student of Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, a central figure of the Arab Nahḍa and Islamic Modernism, and Rashid Rida, who contributed to Islamic reformist thought—to the present day. The site aims to guide readers through a diverse spectrum of philosophical perspectives—including Christian Zionists—including early proponents like Lord Shaftesbury—Jewish Zionists from Theodor Herzl to later figures, Arab nationalists—including figures like Gamal Abdel Nasser—and Islamists—to foster a nuanced understanding of the conflict from political, colonial, and imperial viewpoints.

By delving into the history behind the creation of the Zionist entity in Palestine, the site will also address:
